Why do some Otos like to suck on the body of Discus? Is it because the discus not healthy?
The Otos in a separate tank with Discus do not have such behaviour.

    heheheh.

Some regulars at Gans are known to acquire a fetish for licking discus as well, since there's no other food there. Must be the rich slime on their bodies.

Probably a quirk. if the discus really doesn't like being sucked, guess you have to ditch the otto.

Or maybe they are aggressive Otto von Bismarck species.

    remove the otos
the constant sucking can remove too much body slime causing all sorts of disorders

I think he otto doesn't really "suck" but rasps away at the surface, so I think the discus when it's protective slime layer is worn away will eventually have damaged scales. I had goldfish which had been attacked by pleco and eventually a worn out skin can be seen. removed the pleco and the scales eventually recovered.
