Hara jerdoni from South Asia. It reaches about 3-4 cm and feeds on bottom detritus. Cute lil' buggers with a wriggly swimming style. Viewed from the top they seem more like some insect than a fish. I remember reading that they come from hillstream areas, so they probably thrive in well-circulated, oxygenated tanks.[/i]

last time saw Hara hara..bigger than this jerdoni....about 3 cm..also 3 bucks at CF..

I find it jerdoni don't grow that big..i would say 2.5 cm the most..in fact they don't really grow at all once reach around 2 cm..

then there is a slightly bigger Hara horai, that came in at TB..5 bucks..and that one was about 4 cm...too bad didn't really last in my tank..

Bought 5 very big Anchor Catfish today at Y618. Found it by chance while looking for interesting fishes to add to the tank. Some are obviously very pregnant looking and they are at least double the size those sold in NA or Tiong Bahru, if not bigger still.

According to the owner’s mother that she have them more than 6 months ago but in a dirty dark water basin under the display tank. Only recently she moved them to a tank and has since sold a few of them. Still left with around 5 pieces if you can spot them.

Can Anchor Catfish grow until around 9-10cm in size? I bought 2 of that size but they are more like black in colour and flatter in height.

anchor catfish is just a common name, there are a ton of catfishes of the Hara and related genus, and some grow quite big.

Just found my huge Archor Catfish burrowed under the gravel, the colour look almost the same my ADA soil. Only the eyes and tail are out on the surface. At first I thought it’s hunting for food but even though my shrimps, Scarlet Badis and newly bought baby Panda cories swim on top its mouth they were not harmed.
