    Not sure, never have B. Echinosperma before. B.japonica leaf will turn pinkish with enough light

    If this plant grows large it is probably Blyxa aubertii, not japonica. Read this thread for further discussion on this:

    It should not be B. aubertii because B.aubertii leaf width is much larger that B. japonica

    Looks like B. japonica to me as well. An exceptionally full specimen if I've ever seen one.
