Want to check with experienced bro and sis. Can Congo tetras (Fig 1) and Glossolepis incisus (Fig 2) keep together with Yamato shrimp in planted tank?
As their size can grow up to 15cm, will they eat the hard working tank mates-Yamato shrimps away? Will they eat plants also?

Congo Tetras may attempt to eat your Yamato but they will fail if the tank has a lot of plant cover. They are fast swimmers that get slow over time, and form loose schools at time. I have no idea of the rainbowfish however. I have only kept Melanotaenia praecox, the Dwarf Neon Rainbow, and that species was fast and too aggressive for my liking.
    Fish.. Simply Irresistable

I.incisus will sure to give your yamato shrimps a hard time. I have incisus and yamatos in my tank too, they always chase them if they are spotted...sometimes even make the shrimps jumping out of the tank if you don't have a cover.

Glossolepis Incisus, Melanotaenia Maccullochi, Melanotaenia Boesemani, Iriatherina Werneri, Barilius Canarensis

If you are intending to keep yamato shrimps to keep algae growth under control. You may want to try plecos or OTO. There's some pleco species that would not grow too big and max size is just about that of congo tetra and rainbow fish

Understood, but plecos or OTO only efficient to clear algae grow on the glass. The purpose to keep yamato is to prevent hair algae occur.
Really no choice to keep them together (congo tetra with yamato)?

Yes, plecos or OTO does not clear hair algae.
SAE does help but not as efficient as Yamato.

I understand that congo tetra can be quite aggressive to smaller fish.
however, if they are being treated well (always make them full), will they attempt to attack shrimp without reason?
Ang friends here has real life experience on this topic and share about your experiences?
    Many thanks.

I also have the same question. Will Congo tetra eat or nip small fishes like cardinals and Yamato or sakuras?
