Hi Sunny! Welcome to AQ. What fishes are you keeping in that tank?
welcome to AQ
Thanks for the welcome!
Started off with a couple of platys, mollies and cherry red shrimps but they keep making more babies lol.
Now I have 16 mollies and 16 platys. Except for 1 platy, all are 2nd and 3rd generation.
Also 2 tetra and 1 golden algae eater.
Used to have many Cherry red shrimps but due to overwhelming fish population, all were massacred by the forever hungry mollies.
I cannot post in the "trade" forums yet but I do wish to give away most if not all of them.
Then restart using a bigger tank and filter etc.
Hi sunny,
Shrimps generally do not do well in a fish tank. I'm not surprised they became protein for the fishes.
Do participate in the forum and you'll get posting rights in the marketplace real quick. Meanwhile you can plan for the bigger tank
Especially not with platys and mollies . In general any fish will eat anything that can fit to their mouth. However, som efish do vut the meat into bit and pieces before they eat it .
My platy eat anything they can fit. Give hiding places for the shrimp.
Your name remind me of a friend staying toa payoh?

Back before the platys and mollies started to give birth like crazy, I managed to grow the CRS from 10 to 70. And this was in the same tank but with only 2 platy and 1 molly.
Then as the fry grew, I had to transfer them from the fry tank to the main tank and that's when the mass murders started lol. Started off with some red coloured poop and I was trying to be Sherlock Holmes and see which one was the murderer. Then within 2 weeks, all shrimps went MIA. So I blame all lol.
I live in Hougang.
By the way, when I get my new and bigger tanks, can the tetras mix with the shrimps? Cos I feel that the tetras seems very docile compared to the platys and mollies.
they will still attempt to eat shrimplets and disturb the shrimp or fight with them for food.

as I write previously, fish will eat anything that can fit their mouth. However it does not mean that you can't have fish in shrimps tank. Just be prepare that you will lose some shrimplet, put lots of plants for hiding place will increase their survival rate.
