Personally, i had 3 tanks with amazonia 2 for 3 years for some of the tanks all with undergravel filter no problem just a little bit of mud at the bottom.
Heard that having a UGF, substrates could last longer..
But I don't know how to use UGF.. Hahaha

I myself is using Ugf for all my shrimp tanks.
My 1st set up using UGF was with ADA II with direct suction to canister...this has actually create a big headache for me within a year. When I start to have funny high reading of pH and gH...
After this experience...I drive the UGF with the help of Air Pump + Air Stone. And below the UGF panel with Eheim Sub Pro laid neatly and packed. Follow by using a green Netting to net up securely.
Why I choose to use UGF?
Read up from Surfing the net...and chit chat with some bros...
UGF is good in building beneficial bacteria. And of cause...clear water...
UGF are good for hardworking people who have spare tanks to transfer the shrimps to each time the UGF chokes from mulm accumulation or the soil depletes from the excessive flow and a semi-reset is required.
IMHO, a big piece of good air sponge would serve better for most beginners, as they tend to keep fast producing shrimps (eg. cherry) that reproduces fast and produces more waste, causing the UGF to choke sooner.
The soil is meant primarily for lowering the pH and to serve as a substrate that the shrimps can forage on. Trying to use it as a mechanical and biofilter at the same time is probably left to more experienced keepers.
I'm also hardworking but hardworking on playing.. I'll probably go without UGF..
Now I'm thinking what shrimps to put in the tank.. Looking at just grade S-SSS CRS for a start..Don't intend to go into PRL, PBL or those high end ones.. Anyway I felt that normal ones may look better than some of those high end ones..
I like the "no-entry" and "little lips" though.. Haha..

Paiseh bro, I'm referring the "HELP" soil. Went seaview yesterday and saw $29 before discount on the big pack.
For ADA 2 soil, I remember getting it at Y618 for less than $40 last year. Don't know is there a price increase or not. Best for you to call them to check on the price again.
Spoiled by choices... Don't know what to choose..
Should I go for benibachi? Borneowild or HELP advanced soil? Or Amazonia?

Hmm.. Once you know what you want, just go ahead. Just start slow.
I'm sure after your poison get deeper, you will soon have more and bigger tanks with even more options.
The only solution is don't come to any forum. Maybe by doing so, your poison can be control. Haha..
Where can I get Gex Glassterior 900?
no luck everywhere I go..
