not bubbling usually due to lights, but since you have 18x2, could be your DIY CO2 is not very effective, or too much water turbulence?

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Check your kH and pH. This should tell you roughly your co2 content.
Thanks guys. What should the CO2 content be?
you need more than 36W to get bubbles. I had 36W and no bubbles, added another 36W then got bubbling. (with co2 diy)
NIZZ: yo! the riccia you gave me is bubbling!
You can try some Riccia tied to driftwood nearer the water surface so they get more light. If they bubble, that means more light will be needed for those Riccia at bottom.

Thanks. I don't think I can add anymore tubes since the current housing already spans across the tank. Any suggestions on adding more tubes?
change to 2x36PL
dont under estimate water turbulence. I used to have 18x2 and the plants dont bubble. One day I turned off the filter and an hour later even my BBA-covered moss are bubbling.
but now have 36x2 and all plants bubble like nobody business, but also now have pressurised CO2 lah.

Hi hwchoy,
how big is your tank? I've tried several LFS (including Clementi) but cannot seem to find 36w tubes for 2-feet housing. The common ones are 18w each.
As for turbulence, I run the powerhead connected to a reactor (those green tubes with black balls inside). Could that be considered to be disturbing the water?
thanks for your advice.
thio, u can try Nature
Hi HH
Dat's gd to hear! Any pics?

Nizz: will be taking soon! will post when I do!hope you're having success with your twice revamped tank!
Thio,
Besides nature, you can ask auntie at C328 whether she still carries the ocean free ones... I believe they were 2x36. Though I can't remember if they were for 2 Ft or 2.5Ft. Having suggested this though, let me say that I've heard of quite a few people having problems with ocean frees lights.

Hi Thio
Agree wif Allen dat there's been some reports of problems (serious ones) wif Ocean Free light sets.
If u r willing to get ur hands 'dirty', u can retrofit ur lightset to 2x36W PL wif e-ballast (i'm assuming here dat the housing is long enuf). I've just retro'd mine yesterday fr 2x15W FL to 1x36W PL (1.5ft tank). Got the necessities fr Nature for $25 (1x e-ballast, 1x36W AEC PL tube, 2x clips, 2m wire and some screws/nuts) . U might wanna give this a try...this was my first try at retrofitting my lights, & quite happy wif the results....not difficult at all, tho' i was quite lucky to have some bonding silicon (for the ballast) at hand at 12midnight!

Hi simon / nizz,
can you me tell where is Nature located? I am beginning to see 'light'.
thanks
Hi nizz,
how long is your housing for the lights? Would the tubes be too long for a 2-feet housing?

The housing for my lightset's abt 2ft. Which tubes? 36W PL? It's almost the same length as the 15W FL, (18"). So the answer is no, it's not too long. If u r not sure, u can bring ur light set to Nature & check there, because if u intend to DIY, u'd need to see if the e-ballast can fit into ur housing (if i remember correctly the 1x36W & 2x36W e-ballasts r of diff lengths).
