Change the wood and heres the final position..
getting more nanas and ferns soon.
hi guys, yes its me again!
this time round this tank is scaped for my new type of fish.
keeping mini-monster fish for this tank. that will be the Channa Bleheri.
heres the tank specs :
Tank size : 60x30x36.
lighting : 36watt PL
substrate : Tetra base fert with lapis sand.
Temp : 27~
Flora : anubias "nana", normal java fern, philiphine java fern and some crypts,
Fauna :
Now : 3 galaxies, 1 boraras and some malayan shrimps
Later : 2 - 3 channa bleheris and some big tetras and maybe 1 pleco.
this tank uses mature filter media and old water.
heres the tank with ada soil and the plants im using with the old water in it..
the tetra base fert..
after an hour of washing.. due to my tank was with braces.. i cant completely take out all the ada soil.. some were left there.. and added in the tetra base fert.
10kg of washed lapis sand went in..
the 4 wood i had..
hard scape 1.. basically just simply anyhow place them..
plants went in..
the part where you see the crypts.. i might change tthem to nana on wood.. but if i do so.. the base ferts seems to be useless since i don't have any rooted plants anymore...
phew.. tiring! filling water..
heres 3 picture with differnt wood position.. (the rotala is there just to be the nutrients sucker.. as well as the bamboo charcoal)
first.. the most hiding space.. but not much open space for swimming.. weirdest scape too.
2nd.. clean! but not as much hiding space..
third.. i pretty much like this..
end of the day.. i might stick with 2nd or 3rd.. need some comments!
sorry for the lousy picture.. took me a total of 4 hours to do this scape and cleaning up.. tired!
Change the wood and heres the final position..
getting more nanas and ferns soon.
i think yours is the normal java fern and not the java fern "philiphine". cheers
the ferns at the back are normal java fern..
the small fern beside the big nana at the left i bought it as java fen "philiphine" though..
Nice lapis sand... overall simple and nice
thanks jervis.. first time trying out lapis sand.. pretty happy with the results.. got sick and tired with cloudy water when using ADA soil.
i am liking my results after switching from soil based substrate to lapis as well. i chose the lighter coloured lapis though
I like your new setup, except that i think there should be some background plants behind the wood...the back looks too bare
yea im adding more ferns.. more pictures update tomorrow! most likely with the main fish too!( channa bleheri)
Simple and nice set up. Is the channa bleheri a species of snake head?
thanks aquaria one.. yes its a dwarf snake head.
max out at 5 - 6 inch.. the only snakehead i can keep in a 2ft tank.
Remember to have a tank cover.

thanks quixotic for the link..
yea tank already with cover.. have been doing my homework for quite sometime. they sure escape artist..
now the tank looks more amazonish.. because of the plastic mesh cover makes the tank looks dimmer and the driftwood are leaching tanins.. the channas are gonna love it!
Another picture intensive post. I love it !
your wood looks huge!
can do something like tree trunk and roots concept..
which scape you decom this time round? confused now since you have 2 x 2 feet tank now.. :P
yea.. the whole scape looks like those tree trunk with thick roots type..
its not the mossy tank i decomned
hi guys, heres a update.
day 2 of set up.
driftwood leeched tanins which made the tank slight tea colour.. kinda suits the scape though..
what i bought today.. bolbitis and baby java fern
first time keeping bolbitis.. is this healthy?
my small philphine java fern.
the cover...(front part not done yet, need some clips.)
and lastly.. the full tank shot.
That P-shape wood looks familiar Where you bought the cute Bolbitis?
oh yes.. previous the P scape.. i just simply turn the wood around and i yet got another scape the bolbitis i got it from NA.
hi guys.. update, nothing much have changed though.. i thicken the java fern at the back..
tank mates..
nice snake head you have there!
is that the deformed bichir? looks bumby type?
as for the scape, will there be any foreground plants?
looks nice and natura, but a bit cramp though.
