Welcome to AQ Christan.
40 years?! So 1959 is your birth year?
yes, and am as still crazy abt all things aquatic as on the first day....
Oh wow! Then you're the experience one.
Fond memories of playing in the "longkang" and canals. Caught some "longkang" fishes and even a snapping turtle. It was cool. Mine back then was at Queenstown area. Hehe. It was pretty simple to keep. Get a tank, put fish in. Small pump and air stone. Add some marbles I won from playing with the neighbourhood kids. Done! My first aquarium.
So any pictures to share Christian?

hahahahaha!
i may have been keeping aquariums for four decades, but i still have not licked the algae problem.. especially hairy brush algae. tried a product called '0' Algae recently and it works well - did not kill plants. after that, changed water, cleaned filter, renewed light lamps, and planted heavily. all well for a couple of months. then the hairy monster returns - although in small amounts. able to siphon and remove manually. but this is tedious. i dont want to use '0' Algae on permanent basis, as long-term usage may have detrimental effects. any suggestions?
