Have you ever wondered how the hell your shrimp ever get to the other side of your fool-proof partition? Here's how!

    Watch in HD!

The reason why the shrimps were doing this in my tank is that during the water change, one of the partition has more water in it due to the canister being stronger. So water will drip down the middle partition. When shrimps manages to get grips of current, they believe that it's 'upstream' and will try to head there for better food opportunities..

So as long as you don't have any current in corners (for example airstones) then you won't really have to worry about climbing shrimps..

interesting. but they still climb even if there's no current or water flowing down right? i always saw mine climbing and i must say they have good vision outside of water too. cos when i want to use my fingers to touch them, they'll jump off before i can touch them. haha

Hmm... from my observation, they don't climb unless there is flow/current... They like to graze on the mesh since algae grow there, but apart from that.. they don't climb upwards since there is no current from there..

It's a full glass partition with a gap at the top that I cover using the SS mesh.. Water exchange between the partitions only happen at the top part.

Hahahaha. I can certainy attest to your theory. In my tests, the shrimplets will move "upstream" when given a choice between up and downstream.

My initial plan to "flush" shrimplets to a downstream partition had to be revamped. Hehehe

Wow amazed that CRS can cling on the walls of glass and climb. That's so dangerous, might just lose them from climbing out.

Wow, that's cool. Didn't know crs could be that strong.
Only knew my yamatos always do and walk outside the tank.
