    Hi all,

I have a heavy infestation of all types of snails in my shrimp tank. I do not like the idea of adding in a mini puffer into the tank for fear of the lives of my beloved shrimps.

I heard loaches clear snails. Question is does khuli loach or yo-yo loach clear snails, do they harm the shrimps and are there any other methods to get rid of those meddlesome (sometimes useful though) critters?

    Cheers
    Vincent

Try ghost shrimp. I have seen them catch Ramshorn snails for meals. But if you got Malayan Trumpet Snails, that would be tough.

Yes. Ghost Shrimp = Feeder Shrimp.
Not sure if they will attack your other shrimps. But they are known to catch small fish like Neon Tetras (when they are off-guard) for meals.
Keep us posted if you do try them.

how big is your tank? is it densely planted with moss?
i have a 1.5ft shrimp tank with cherries, tigers, yamato and bee shrimps.
fishes inside are 2 cories, 3 harlequins, 2 rasboras, 2 otos, 2cardinals and 1 mini puffer.

the puffer is in it for a couple of months now and i'm free of snails.
my shrimps are not harmed at all and they continue to breed easily till the point that this tank has become my shrimp supply tank for a few other tanks.

i only feed frozen bloodworm for this tank so i guess my puffer has adjusted to it.

Vincent, I prefer to have snails in my tanks but a recent treatment killed most of them. Shrimps, fish and plants are still alive tho.

If you have ramhorn snails, those that travel vertically, I'd be happy to adopt them.

To trap them, you can use cucumber or cory tablets on a petri dish.

    Keep 'em fingers wet,
