To me, the most difficult part in an aquascaping is not how you plant or what plant you should select.
Its often the wood that makes a whole lot of differences. Some inspiration by Amano.
See the chocolate gourami? My favourite fish now.
Personally, i've tried doing sometthnig like this, stacking of woods. So covered up by moss.

I agree. I seldom design a layout to accomodate specific plants. Usually, I have an idea of what I want the tank to look like, then decide what plants to use to achieve the look.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Yup , I also agree with this statement.
My experience from last re-layout, I surprise once I got new nice bogwood then it's deliver new ideas and contribute a very significant accent to overall layout.
Cheers,
AChen
ps: I saw the picture at Teo's, you guys are great & solid teamwork !
Nowadays I would put in the substrate and the wood first to get the basic layout. Then I'll leave it like that for days/weeks while I mull about the rest of the layout.

same here. I always have a few spare pieces of drift wood on hands (yes, small ones, because mine is only a 3ft).
Whenever i do rescaping, i will tear off all the moss and ferns and arrange them here and there for new ideas. Stacking a few dull looking woods together can give u some surprises.

I am no good with woods. Usually I would start like you guys placing the wood in the tank to see the layout. But a few weeks/months after planting, the wood will usually be removed. It occupies too much space and the substrate below the driftwood may become anaerobic when no plants grow there.
Amano really knows how to arrange his driftwoods.

Yes, I find that Amano is very good with his wood layout. And many times, he does not "cloth" his wood with moss, ferns, nanas etc like many of us. The raw look of his wood layout at times is very refreshing. Mine is covered with bolbitis and java ferns...
He is also very bold with his set up usually, not afraid that the wood would cover too much space or capture excessive attention and for that, his works becomes very unique and has a sense of personality about it.
And he some how always find all the swee swee pieces of wood!
