Hey guys, just finished my exams and now that I have more free time other than work. My itchy hand syndrome started working up again and I've managed to put up another low profile amazon biotope tank.
Enjoy!
Set up.
Cloudy waters after filling up.
Clearing up after 3 hrs
Wabi-kusa (top) Amazonia (bottom)
The driftwood setup is actually 6 different pieces of wood put together.
Flora:
HC
Christmas moss
Mini pellia
mini fissiden
UG
Cryptocoryne MIOYA
Cryptocoryne Wendtii Green
Java Ferns
Anubias Nana
Anubias Wrinkled leaf
I'm thinking of putting some bigger plants in the left back corner. Any suggestions?
Fauna:
none yet. Thinking of the following:
- Boraras
- pygmy corydoras
- badis badis
- yamato
Help me out here.
Any feedback will be welcomed!
plants or mosses on the top driftwood must be partially submerged right?
Or do you spray them with water everyday to keep them moist?

Wonders of driftwood is that it soaks up water and keeps the moss moist. the problem is only the tips where its not so damp and my house is pretty windy. I do spray the plants that are out of water when it feels dry.
Will it grow quickly like the hydrocotyle 'japan' and overtake the other plant species?
The planting is amazing! Difficult to maintain it?
Hi Jovel, Nice setup. If i am you i will keep only 1 fish type. either boraras brigittae or badis. I not sure will the badis bully the boraras brigittae if you get this. And i think most badis prefer live food.
Have you thou of Galaxy Rasbora, they might look nice in your setup as there hiding place in your tank. They might breed in your setup also.
Best Regards, TS

Day 8
Did 90% water change every 3 days, planning to cycle Amazonia for another 2 weeks before I add in some live stock. The wind is really big these days, water levels will drop by 1/3 every 2 days. Causing the moss on the end of the drift woods to dry out hopefully they can make it.
Thinking about doing a DIY mini sprinkler for the tanks. but its not covered so the water might be blown all over the place. More planning to do. Hmmm.
Threw in one of my blue ivory ramshorn on day 3.
Day 10. It just doubled itself. The clean white shell was how much it grew in 7 days... I wonder what is it eating.
Its been a long while since my last update.. been really busy, even to upload the 1 month old tank pictures. Here is the journey so far.

Really love how this mixture of land mosses, HC and mini fissidens growing on the drift wood.
A short video on the tank. Enjoy!
3 months update; I tore down the wabi kusa (top shelf tank) as it is about 1 1/2 years old, filter broke down and duckweeds took over. Therefore, planning to do a reset. Will update on it once I draw up my plans for it.
Amazonia's doing fine, with abit of string algae issue. Transferred the livestock from wabi kusa to this tank.
Total fauna:
1 x female badis badis (male trapped itself 2 weeks ago and died)
3 x Yamatos
1 x full grown Blue ivory Ramshorn
Dozen of mini ramshorn.
