    Hello experts,

Am new to this forum and also to shrimps.

I would like to setup 2 X 2ft tank, mainly 1 for shrimps and the other for standby.

Question is it possible to split 1 cannister and 1 chiller to these 2 tanks?

If so, how can i do that?

    Please advice me.

    Thanks alot.

You have to rig up an overflow system that brings water from the top tank to the bottom. Run the canister filter on the bottom tank, with the output going into the upper tank. Might take some experimenting to get it working right because the overflow must keep up with the output of the canister. If you intend to use a single chiller for both tanks, it must be connected to the canister's output. This basically turns your lower tank into a sump of sorts.

Long term, should the canister fail, your lower tank may overflow and flood the floor, so you have to factor in this when designing the overflow.

1 chiller to 2 tank is ok. But 1 canister to 2 tank it a bad idea as what stormhawk said if canister fail you are going to be in a pond.

You can use the 'water bridge' style like bro eviltrain.

Re: (Advise) Cannister & Chiller for 2 X 2 ft tank

is the tank side by side or is it top bottom?

using a stainless steel pipe cooling is safest way now. no need to worry about water bridge / overflow losing siphon.

Water bridge as I learnt from the site Eviltrain introduce me depends on the bridge size.
Small pipes used will be smaller flow across to tank 2. Filter too strong easily will overflow.

Re: (Advise) Cannister & Chiller for 2 X 2 ft tank

    Thanks all experts.

Still trying how to figure it out without overflow lor.

Tank will be top n bottom.

Maybe use 1 cannister for each tank, so have to figure how to pipe the chiller to these 2 cannisters.

As for brands for cannister n chiller still havent bought them yet. Better for me to figure how to run before buying else waste money.

Actually wanna have crs on top tank then sulawesi below, but like that parameters different so cant hook them linking up.

So either both low ph shrimps all both high ph shrimps then.

I have been reading here since, am total kanna deep poison by you guys. Dead liao!

Maybe before spending, best is look around as others setup.

Really a big thank to you guys who replied. Very appreciated.

If you have one crs and one sulawasi tank, you dont have to chill the sulawasi ones as they do not need chilled water.

Like what bro eviltrain said can just use chiller on the crs tank. For Sulawesi don't need chiller. If you are keeping 1 for crs 1 for bkk then you need to link up the chiller. Sulawesi they can live in temp of 28-30 ( correct me if I am wrong )

Bro, but from what I know Sulawesi is harder to keep. Used to set up one but within 1 mth buy 30 pcs all died. Maybe I am suck in it. Lol.... But after that I don't dare to touch them again. But maybe the expert in keeping Sulawesi can gide you.
