in the last pic at the bottom you can see a red tiger lotus, along the way we also saw some waterlilies on muddy puddles. I didn't think nymphaea were native here. They started invading the central catchment?

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

I got a feeling I know where it came from :P
you sure its a tiger lily? Look rather small and like dropped leaves. Maybe they should put up a signboard stating "NO PLANTING"

Is this lower or upper pierce
should be upper pierce, the first turn off at the bottom of the first slope. on the left side. there used to be abundant snakeheads, prob 1000 gathering there every evening until about 1997 or 98 when suddently the water turned milky white (like when you wash your paint brushes with water after painting house). theres this like small bay on the left, used to be full of tiger barbs but after that white water thingy like less already. also caught glass fish there before (those type people put dye into)
Cheers
Bryan

Hey Michael, glad to see you had so much fun in Singapore.
I went to the Nee Soon Freshwater Swamp Forest last December, when my kids were away.
The Central Catchment where you went are rather swampy since it is low ground (that's why it is the catchment, Q.E.D. ). When I was active in the army (early 80s) before the highway split the jungle, the Bukit Timah side of the forest has higher elevation and the streams are easier to get to as there are no swamp surround them. the bottom are also sandy. Today it is not so easy to get there because it is bordered by highways.
