It certainly is not rocket science.
    Mine breed regularly.
I follow the same principal as most breeders.
Dry season with lower water levels, slightly warmer good food, then Wet season, increase water level with cool water to drop overall temp by about 10f, this usually triggers the spawning.
If they do not spawn within 48 hours I start again.

is it the abandunce of food? or the environmental conditions that induce the spawning? or both? in tropical Singapore, it is not so easy to drop 10F you know?

it's better to wait for the rainy season, ck
when it starts to get cold, do big water changes (about 30% will do)
    some blackwater extract helps too
    i've only got it once
and the eggs didn't make it
ah well, the fry wouldn't have survived with the heckels around

DEA, the problem could have been the Blackwater extract.
99% of them breed easier in slightly alkaline water.
My water is around 7.6 Ph.

I have got Ian Fullers breeding book around somewhere I will see what he does.
I never mess with the water, I just use what I have got and have pretty good results.

If wait for rainy season, then one year can only breed them two times in Singapore (during monsoon season)? Then how farms manage to breed them year round?
Again, my question: "is environemntal changes necessary to induce the spawn?" or does the abandunce of food alone can trigger a spawn? I keep reading that breeders try all means and ways to make them spawn and failed. In frustration, throw them back to community tank and they spawn readily.
I know quite a few hobbist here keep/collect corydoras... care to share your experience/tips?

Simon, Went already. that's why I'm doubtful about the rainy season thing. How else is his corydoras breeding like rabbits? I suppose once you know the trick to it, they will breed like clockwork?

it's the influx of cold water that tricks the cories into thinking it's the rainy season, as in the wild
i would imagine constant water changes at night when the water is cooler will do the same time
it helps if it's the rainy season over here because it's cooler all the time
alternatively you might try adding ice cubes in a bucket to cool the water down some more

how about sprinkling some water onto the water surface? like when you water your plants?
    P-L-E-C-O-R-Y=M-A-N-I-A!!! YEAH!
FLORENCE, capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants, spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. It is a city which bustles with industry and craft, commerce and culture, art and science.

The change in temperature is indeed the main trigger to spawning with them.
I know breeders that have had to drop the temperature as low as 55f to induce them to spawn.

    that's an interesting question
if the cold water does in fact do what it is supposed to do, yes, of course they're necessary

i think if you look through the link provided by clothahump you can come to a conclusion
    my conclusion is yes
as seeing how junchi as seng bros keeps telling me they have no secret except for changing a LOT of water *shrug*
