Wah ....man! Kewl! Amazing! Now, some questions for you, hwchoy!
1. Is this the first time your Red Tiger flowering?
2. What's your way of trimming the plant?
3. I noticed, especially from the first pic, that there's this 'white cottony' stuff near the base of the Red Tiger? Well, I do have that on mine too. So, is that normal? Do you do anything to scrub it off?
Thanx for reading....hope my questions are answered.

No, long ago flowered once before, dark pink with yellow centre.

Just cut off the leaf stalk at the base near the gravel lor :P

So you must have the same type as mine, thin-leaved version right? In the next post I will show the leaves from top.
The thin-leaved version has a rhizome, very small one when I bought it from Teo. The growing apex has this white/purplish fluffy “fur”, its part of the plant, don't scrub!
The thick-leaved version doesn't have a rhizome and don't have this fluffy stuff.

Submersed leaf (left) and Floating leaf (right) of this Thin-leaved Red Tiger Lotus. The floating leaves lose their red pattern as they age.
The halfbeak near the submersed leaf is about 4cm long.

Thanx for the pointers and prompt reply hwchoy.
But I got another question for you.....just to clear my doubt.
From the AQ plant database, can I confirm that that flowering Red Tiger of yours is also called 'Nymphaea lotus rubra'?
Here's mine :
Well, I asked a lot hoping to see mine flowers too....
No, mine is not the rubra as you can see from my leaves picture. And my submersed leaves are very thin and easily punctured.

Actually I thought this is the Queen of Siam, no? Because the submersed leaves look exactly like mine, which I got from Teo's, who told me it was the QOS.
Cheers
Boon Yong
No Boon Yong, this is not QoS. I heard from another forumer that QoS has thick leaves. Can you confirm? Anyway I got mine long long ago before QoS came on the scene.

for those with big tanks, a tiger lotus with floating leaves makes a nice display too as the underside of the leaves has nice coloured patterns.

Hi choy. Got question for you again
In pic 3, wat's that 'landmine thingy' on the top left of the bud? Is that part of the plant? If yes, what plant?
p.s. Oh yah, my brother fishie told me he saw most of you guys during the photography rendezvous too

OK guys, check it out. it broke through the surface just now. The pics ( Day 8 ) was taken one hour apart, during which it grew 1 cm from fully submerged to breaking through the surface.

Halo Choy,
My QOS has actually turned into thin leaf after settling down in my tank for more than 3month. And the leaf texture or pattern is exactly like yours. I bought from petmart and it was quoted as QOS. Lets put aside the real name...yours look exactly like mine...and mine in the market is quoted as QOS...so what exactly is it? ...don't care lah :P ...
