some pictures might help
Just noticed that there are some really tiny tau geh lookalike things growing out from my fissidens tied to a rock.
Please pardon my ignorance, but what're those tau geh thingies? I tried searching for the answer on google, but didn't even know what to type in. "Fissidens sprouts" certainly didn't help. Hehe!
some pictures might help
They are just the "flower" stalks containing spores from the mosses. It is a normal occurrence.

Back to Killies... slowly.
I only seen something fitting that description at the very start of planted. The moss patch that I farmed from the ground had some of these sprouts when I started to submerged them.
But it didn't last very long and disappeared. But that's like 3-4 years ago?
Maybe can change google keywords to moss spores/moss flowers.

Can it be a kind of pest plant which used to grow on a Riccia patch I used to have?
A picture will explain better..

Thanks very much for the help, folks! Did a google search on "moss sporophytes" and it seems like navanod's nailed it.
Here's a (not-so-well-taken) picture, shot with an iPhone. It's anything but sharp, but I think if you look closer, you can make out the little taugehs.
Is this moss fissiden?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think fissidens will not grow the spore pods like in your picture, but only moss do. Those pods are probably from your moss. Pods growing is also a sign of good growth. Congrats!
Fissiden is also a moss. They can and do produce sporophytes.
Sporophytes does not indicate good growth, it just indicates that you have both male and female gametophytes in the patch of moss, and they are cross fertilizing each other. In the hobby, because even small pieces of a moss gametophyte can grow into a large patch without actually fertilizing and producing sporophytes and spores, most folks ended up with a single sex in their mosses, which is why they do not see sporophytes. Also, growing them underwater may limit sporophytes growth as the spores are meant to be air-scattered. That's why underwater growth of sporophytes are not as widespread.
Erm Kenny,
My guess is the fissden might be not all purely fissden or they were grown emerse.
The times I just submersed my Singapore moss covered dw. I found these sprouting out for a week+ before disappearing.
