Seachem dosing instruction.

When they print 2.5ml for each 80L. Do they mean volume of tank or volume of water in tank?

If I have a 60L tank that when filled with approximately 15L of substrate, leaves 45L of water remaining assuming its filled to the brim.( plants and equipment are not included in estimation for simplicity)


For 60L, i need to dose 1.9ml per week. This amounts to 3.8ml if twice weekly.

For 45L, i need to dose 1.4ml per week. This amounts to 2.8ml if twice weekly.


So the difference will be between 0.5ml to 1ml.


Flourish phosphorus and nitrogen are very concentrated. They are able to treat 4000-40000L with just 500ml. So i think a 0.5ml error is quite scary. What do you guys think?

you mean seachem flourish ? It's quite dilute..
I dose 5ml for 50Gal twice per week, using only Seachem Flourish, Trace, Excel & Iron.

is it necessary ti dose this liquid fertilizer for a 2 weeks old plant tank

I think i read from ADA if u dose micro fertilizer too soon, algae will bloom.

Nothing to be scared about. Fertilizer does not cause algae outbreak except for ammonia. Algae will grow anyway regardless you have 0 ppm or 10 ppm of nutrient. It is scarier if the tank is nutrient limited because plant will stunt and even if you increase the nutrient it take at least a week or two to recover. This is the time when algae will take over.

Typical plant nutrient daily uptake (EI)
NO3 = 1 - 4 ppm
NH4 = 0.1 - 0.6 ppm
P04 = 0.2 - 0.6 ppm
