how long have your tank been setup?
what is the colour temperature of the pl tube?
what is your co2 level?
what is your fertilisation regime?
have you floated some riccia on water surface to see if they pearl?
Hi bros, I remember posting earlier asking for advice on lighting for my 2 ft tank. My tank dimension with ref to H20 level are 23in X 11in X 10in. By cal, it abt 11 US Gal & 9 UK Gal and I should need 33W PL light based on 3W/gal.
I went ahead to buy this 55W PL light by the brand of Mozoo but my Riccia are still not bubbling. There's no problem with CO2 level. Can any bro suggest why?

My tank has been up for abt 1 month or so. Used to be put at my balcony where there's sunlight and they were bubbling without artificial light.
I have no idea what's the color temp of my pl tube, it's not labelled.
My CO2 level should be healthy
I use this fertilizer called "Plant Plus", provides Natural trace elements with NPK, I add a few drops per day.
There are riccia floating on the surface and they're not bubbling.
That's why I suspect it might be the PL tube although it's very bright. Where can a buy a PL tube with your recommendation of color temp and how much would it cost for a 2 ft light? By the way, any problem with this Mozoo brand?
riccia don't bubble, they pearl.
and riccia floating on surface should pearl as they are very near the light.
the colour temperature of light tube are usually around 6500k. also known as daylight tubes. does your light output appear to be white?
the problem may not be your light but co2. how did you confirm that you have sufficient co2?
not heard of mozoo brand.
Hi
There may be two possibilities.
1) As mentioned, your CO2 level is not sufficient.
Care to share with us your PH/KH/CO2 relationship?
2) Some of your taller plants may have blocked out the light.
Ricca not only need light to pearl but direct light as well.
A simple test can be done. Put half a mesh of ricca under direct light and the other half under the shade of the taller plants.
You can see that only the half exposed pearl while the other half don't.
Hope these help.
Riccia need lots and lots of direct light, and it must be quality light. 6500k and above. The best I have used are NEC Biolux tubes. The HG models have twice the amount of lumens.
I'm back!
riccia will pearl with pl tubes producing ~2.5w/gal. light must fall on riccia directly though.

Mine's on FL 4w/gal... Should be on par if not better. Somehow I feel FLs give a more consistent light coverage and should be used unless you want patches of riccia than a carpet.
I'm back!
I will still check on CO2. I think CO2 is limited
