    the second one caught in the wild in Hong Kong, note the very very bent lateral line.

    why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

    got an ID for the second fish, Yaoshanicus arcus Lin 1931 from South-east China (Yaoshan, Guangxi). Thanx to Ng Heok Hee for help.

    the large eyes and forked tail of the 1st fish seems to indicate a Leptobarbus species..... while the bent lateral line of the 2nd is akin to the Alburnoides genus.
