Hi, me had bad experience 3 times b4 able to get the hg to flourish. It takes 4-6wks to start growing strong and by 3 mths from planting, will cover the 2ft if planted 1cm to each other thru out the tank gravel. The trick i used is to start CO2 fertilization and 10hrs strong light regime straight away with as much hg as possible. Though be prepared for algae attacks by putting oto, sae , yamato, pencilfish and such as soon as possible including freq water change. Liquid fert can be introduced by a week in appropriate doses. The first 4wks is the make or break period. Went to Teo's FF just now and shared this info with the boss. He said the hg he produced is easier to grow than those he needed to use in his display tank coz he produce the hg in submersed form. $3-4 can get u a 2ft worth of hg to start off. Other info I use ADA green brighty step 1 for liquid fert.My 4ft with hg from teo.
nice... what is your watts per gallon?
strangely enough
for me, i'm fertilising within the first 3 days
no algae
1 MV for a 2ft tall tank
i can see the hairgrass growing outwards already
how long does it normally take for the hairgrass to form a good thick carpet?
DEA,
Pretty soon I suppose..... congrats man

DEA , you planted the HG in 1cm square grids ?
I am also using short HG to cover the foregrd of my 2ft.
Heard from a fren it takes about 1 month to cover the front , not sure.
I planted them rather sparsely cos i read that if you plant them too densely at the start , once they grow out you will have to do loads of trimming of the runners in order for it to survive instead of out competing each other.
Btw since you just set up the tank , are u using any kind of liquid fert ? Or rather any other fert than the base one ?
Any advice appreciated , also just started my 2ft.
uhm, actually i juz tore off clumps that fit my fingers and just planted them like that----------------

1 month? so long ah
i cannot wait ^ ^
yes, using the combined bioplast ferts in 1:1:1 ratio
i have c. piauhyensis and floating riccia to suck in the nutrients tho
you might want to wait b4 adding fert
The lightings are 4x36w arcadia FL set at 10hrs. Ballast change to elbiru e-ballast, output is brighter.
