Trade is not yet legalised because many Singaporeans do not have the appetite for research and proper care. Same goes for places like America even, but they have a love of "individual rights".
Well, why not? AVA is probably aware that there are many exotic pet owners that are under the radar. Better that these owners (the responsible ones) are educated, empowered and equipped to understand the care required and look after their pets well, secured and keep them captive, then for them to give up and release them into the wilds or allow them to escape and endanger the eco-system and/or public. I'm sure many who work at AVA are animal lovers too, and would rather the pets be well taken care of and not suffer... or at least minimise suffering.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Can we start a petition or something? Haha

Think that's illegal. Not the time yet anyway. Any new pet trade coming into Singapore should be licensed, strictly controlled to ensure animal welfare.

What would be a good set up aquarium for fire bellied salamanders? Thanks!
Fire bellied newts or fire salamanders? Hypselotriton orientalis and salamandra salamandra respectively.
I'm thinking the former. Well planted, completely aquatic tank, low temperatures 20 Celsius or less but honestly anything below 24 is good in Singapore. Lower temperature slowly if living at room temp, increase water levels slowly if kept shallow in the shop. Go to Caudata.org for more info.
