assuming you are using a 1ft cube tank then it would be about 7.65 US gallon which means you need roughly 19 watts of lights to achieve 2.5 wpg. That is first step.
2nd. CO2 value. You need to check your co2 using the KH and PH lookup table. Make sure its about 20-30 ppm.
3rd. NO3. Check that value.. should be about 5-10ppm.
Those are important ones.

my tank 30cm * 20 cm * 20cm but 2cm are gravel so filled 15cm of water. convert and calculated shall be required only 7.1watt. 10 watt shall be more than enough and checked abt 24-26ppm. NO3?? wat's NO3!!!
NO3 = Nitrate. Check that value.
BTW, make sure the riccia isn't shadded.

ok will check tat, BTW those in my 2ft starts to pearl long time ago without doing anything... yet having problem with the small tank while taking so much care on it.
double check 15cm water using 10watts comfirm enough rite? If not I will get more powerful one
yeap should be enough. Usually smaller tank tend to be more difficult. What kind of gravel are you using? Any solutions that you put into the water??

small gravel those $3 per small pack add in to raise water level only
In add in liquid fertilizer Aista brand. bought from pet safari. that time wanted to get "tetra" but out of stock so a guy recommend me this cheapo brand. But think liquid fertilizer shall works for all rite.
Or maybe your riccia is "spoilt" by you dun like small tank already
okay... rule of thumb. if you don't know what is in the solution, don't add them to your tank. It will only complicate things.
Guess now you really have to get test kits. BTW, riccia only pearls if there is excess O2 in the water.
From what I notice is if my riccia don't pearl, usually its because of lack of CO2 or NO3.

ok thks so maybe I am creating trouble for myself.
BTW will it still grow in a slow rate or it will dead?
without it pearling its okay as long as it does not turn brown. Once its brown, then its dead.

ok thanks a lot will do something making sure it wun turn to tat stage.
my riccia pearl and is growing very well.
Now had algae problem so bought some yamato.
I got a qns.
Wat is the best PH and KH for riccia to pearl while yamato can swim in the tank happily?
I tried to adjust PH KH CO2 always either
1) too much CO2 level - yamato swim to surface to breath
2) adjust ph or kh resulting CO2 too low - riccia cannot pearl
any expert recommendation?
BTW is there a good PH tester in the market?
tetra brand cannot measure 6.1 6.2 6.3 6.4
sera brand can but not accurate according to forumer
10W should not be a problem. i used to have a 1 ft with glosso. only had 11W PL and every three seconds, one bubble of CO2.
