There is a Flora/Fauna Album somewhere hidden on the AQ page, which provides a list of what you are looking for.

Hello!!!! Doesn't anybody realise that AQ is not just a Forum????

    Hi

I just removed my vals a while ago.

They are tall and slender but the problem with them is that they are really fast grower. It grow so tall that they stretch from my back right all the way to my left side.

Hence i am presently looking for one that is tall and slender but not so fast and the height should just reach the surface. Prefer stem plant cause it can be trrimmed to the height i want.

    Anymore suggestion?

    Thks.

    Eusteralis stellata 'broad leaf'?
    or
    Ludwigia inclinata var verticilata?

or a big bunch of Eichhornia diversifolia planted together looks quite good at hiding things

Hygrophila stricta or Hygrophila corybomsa grow relatively slowly for stem plants, and are very easy to prune and control.

    ideas for background plants....

    some plants to consider:

    Cyperus helferi
    Alteranthera reineckii
    Ludwigia grandulosa
Cyptocoryne balansae, retrospiralis (a bit taller)
    Blyxa aubertii

if you can afford the space:
    E. uruguayensis would be nice

these are pretty slow if that's what you want
