hi bro, as for me i treat my water with aquasafe anti-chlorine , add abit of aqua salt and let it over night (48hours), adding aqua salt depend on what you are keeping.. if you are keeping plants , dont add any aqua salt, just abit of anti-chlorine will do...

    Safe way....
    Add Anti chlorine
Put in air pump with Air stone over a night...
    Depending what you keeping....
Best to do adjustment to your required pH.
Recommend & Common use brand should be Prime and Nutrifin Aqua plus...
Lastly...remember not to overdose the anti-chlorine...

    Hope this helps....

Nowadays PUB adds chloramines into our water. You will have to aerate the water for a long time before you can remove the chloramine as it is more stable than chlorine. With chlorine 24 hours should do the trick but not with chloramines. Your best bet is to use a good anti-chlorine solution and follow it's instructions for chloramine removal.

Well, for me , I would just leave the aeration on for as long as possible, till my next water change. I would usuallyaged my water for at least 72 hours, cause at times, the chlorine content in my tap water is so high that you can smell a vague tint of it.

Do you know that chloramine is also found in our tap water and will not be removed by aeration? Either use a anti-chloramine product or get those ro/di type of water filter to get pure water.

Sorry if I have mislead anyone on my post, I am just focusing on the aspect of my duration of my aeration and I do dose my water with Prime by Seachem.

Invest in a good anti-chlorine and a good conditioned water will keep your fishes healty, it a must... Many of bros here used prime seachem, i guess this is the best anti-chlorine recommented...

Hard to say which is the best. Must suit the type of lifestock that you want to keep. Not all anti-chlorines are created equal.

Re: Please advise Treating Tap Water [Aeration]

Woah, I have always had the impression that intense water circulation, coupled with a decent anti-chloramine solution, i.e. Seachem Prime, around an hour, will more adequate? No? Read somewhere that Seachem Prime can only lock ammonia for 24 hours maximum; if the water is left to "circulate/aerate" for too long, say a week, wouldn't the minute amount of bacteria (I'm assuming bacteria is easily introduced in any of the equipment we used) start the cycling process in the water body we are "aging/aerating/circulating" the water in? Just very curious about this point.
