Currently have 2 light set for my 3 ft tank that hold

    2 x 25 W FL( 2.5ft tube) x 2 = 100 W total.

    Thinking of converting it to PL to 2 x 36 W x 2.

Is it possible? If yes, what is the material that I need to change/buy ? Can keep the same casing/ Holder?

    small fish,

Yes, you could bring the fitting to Nature and get it modified for a small fee. It's also possible to do it yourself if you're interested.

    Things you'll need is:
    1. 2 nos. e-ballast 2X 36W
    2. 4nos. 36W PL tubes
    3. wires
    4. 8 nos. 'c' clips
    5. wire connectors
    Cheers!!

I would like to modify my lights too. Where is Nature?

Is there any place else where I can get a ballast for 36W PL?

    Hi

Nature is at Blk 1 Thomson Rd #01-340 Balestier Hill Shopping Centre (Opp. Thomson Medical Centre). Tel: 2556051. Look for Chan. U can get the eballast at Nature too. Otherwise u can try one of the hardware shops at Kelantan Road (Near Sim Lim Tower).

better measure the light housing first, 3ft may not be enough to hold two 36W PL length wise, or may be just fit. Also you want to spread out the tubes otherwise all the lights will be concentrated in the centre as the PL tube is much shorter.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

I'm very sure that 3ft can hold 2 PL tubes. The PL tubes measures approx 18".

You can fit two 36W PL tubes in a 3 ft light holder, but the e-ballast will have to be outside. That's what Chan does.
