    Hi All,

Need some information about how you guys put your water outlet. Please let me know how you position your water outlet in your tank. Do you attach the rain bar? if so, where? and with the holes pointing? If not, how do the water escape. If its not too much of trouble, please post the pictures or pm me.

I will be doing a major rescaping and I can't seem to visualise how the beautiful tanks seems able to hide their equipments.

    Thanks in advance.

If you're talking about Amano's tanks, here's the secret... he removes all equipment before photography.

    vinz,
No no.. I meant was normal regular tank that you have. I want to see how you would position the water outlet to maximize the co2 distribution

    CT,
Erm, does it mean that your rain bar is perpendicular to the base of the tank and the "holes" are releasing the water straight across the back of the tank or was it at an angle?

As soon as i can start taking pictures I will post them.
Howevver, what I am doing is I am using a Juwell Tank with its own built in internal filter

I connected the filter output to a reactor (the three ball thing) via a short ehiem hose.

The water flows from the filter output to the reactor and into the tank.

    Hope this information helps.

    CT,

Thanks. I assume your reactor's outlet will be pointing towards the glass panel?

    Robin,

Hmm... meaning yours will be like an overhead filter?

I point the outlet from the reactor diagonally across the tank.

How i did it was i DIY my rain bar in a 'L' shape with holes 2 inch apart place at the bottom of the tank, holes pointing towards the tank walls (back and side). I also use a DIY external CO2 reactor so that i don't have additional hardware in the tank. The 'L' shape rain bar is well covered by the background plants.

So far, all CO2 are well dissolve and able to achieve pH6.5 (3bps) and KH4 in a 4x2x2 tank. Hope this help.

    Sorry. no pic from me.

Mine is after the reactor than i join it to the rainbar. However, the whole rainbar is under the water. I use this because my 2217 filter is too powerful for my 3 ft tank. If i dont use the rain bar then it will be like storm inside my tank :P :P :P . the position of my rainbar is vertical.
    Everything is going well now....

Robin, Why can't use rainbar with CO2 injection? You can if the rain bar is submerged.

Sleepy lance, for my 6 ft tank, I use an external CO2 reactor and split the output to 2 outlets, one on the left and one on the right, to maximise CO2 distribution.

    Sorry vinz,

Neber read properly, thought that rainbar was placed above water in which case CO2 loss.

    My apologies to everyone

bro sleepy_lancs, i oso share yr concerns on the hiding those inlet/outlet.....kinda unsightly.....

pai seh, borrow yr thread for the inlet bar....

may i know wat's the best height to place the inlet bar in the tank? I'm more concerned abt whether to hang it near the bottom or the middle of the tank to be most effective?

I also have a 240 l Juwel tank. I leave the Juwel powerhead alone. I use a seperate internal powerhead (1800L/ hr) to feed water into the reactor's water inlet. I feel Juwel Standard filter is already on the low side to begin w, and w clogging of the filter media over time, there is a concomitant loss in filtration rate.

Btw, do you encounter any problem w airlock jam w your powerhead?

Sleepy lancs, you could place both the inlet and outlet together at one end of the tank. Provided that the outlet would be pointing away toward the other end of the tank. If you want to the use the rainbar, place it vertically and have the holes pointing to the other end of the tank. You could place some tall plants infront of the two pipes to hide it. I am doing it this way. Hope this helps.

    af2373,

It would be good to position it in the middle. But I will still put it at the side. Its easier to hide. It should be at the opposite end of the outflow.

I leave the inlet about 5 inches from base of the substrate. This is to avoid accidents. If the hose get loose, at least the fishes still live in that 5 inches of water.. kekek.
