normally the filter is removed during photo shooting
Hi,
I saw a thread on Iwagumi and it got my interest.
This is new to me so I went to google to read up more.
Then I came across this nice article and something was puzzling me.

Where was the filter installed?
Any guess anyone? Please pardon me because I only keep small tanks with internal/sponge filter.
I would like to give Iwagumi layout a try, and I felt a hidden filter would definitely enhance the look, like the case above.
Thank you.

oh i see.. nice trick, learnt something new today.
I just went to your blog and this 1.5 ft Oak Tree and Serenity caught my attention. Very nice work you have.
Looks like Iwagumi Style for small tank is possible.
I will read your blog in detail during my leisure. Hopefully I can find some good rocks someday for a kickstart on this.
wow! Shadow, I must say your works (published on your blog) were impressive! I saw you have won quite a number of awards too, and it's also great to see our Country's name in the top list.
Personally I liked your River Valley and Lost works.
(PS: ai ya, the smileys here are missing a "kowtow" one. )
Sorry, can't help it, got to post here on what I just saw in the IAPLC website. most of you might have seen it already, but please pardon my excitement as I just came to know all these today.

kao... it doesn't look like an aquarium to me. it's so real...
my god, beautiful scapes. I'm in love with 'Forest Scent'
Regards,
Misery.
The first scape which is the forest looks really nice but for competition what happened to the fish? Rules lax? Anyway, the picture is taken without showing the top.

Me too, I was so captivated by it. He went to the extent of creating the background tree trunks, which are smaller and darker, so that it creates a depth in the "picture". my jaw almost dropped when I first saw it.
oh ya, now that you mentioned the top, I am also curious to see how he ends the tree trunks. I've got few doubts on the competition as well. I'll ask Shadow in the other thread.
There are fishes in the scape. You just need to look harder.
Perhaps a larger image will help?

As for the top of the tank, the competition clearly states that anything outside of the water will not be graded or included, otherwise we'll start seeing things like this:

The "trunks" just ends as stumps above water if I recalled correctly. Those are actually logs he had collected.
Ah i see now. I sometimes wonder about what is a compulsory rules and what is not. I'll have to go with all natural materials. Though i have to agree man-made material are easier to construct and get close to what the aquarist envision.
I've yet to be disappointed with the theme each year. Always been blown away. I hope someone comes up with some creative theme. My apologies, i forgotten the name of the member who took pictures in Borneo. Took loads of pictures of nature. The mountain, valleys, rivers etc is very inspiring.
