    Hi all,

Going to try out DSM when my New Amazonia and Glosso arrive from MizuWorld later. Will put a Gex glass lid over, is not air tight like the plastic wraps mentioned in DSMs.
Will be using my Gex Genoah cube tank (approx 5 US gallons) to house a pair of German Blue Rams, 5-6 tetras as dithers, and 2 otos after flooding the tank.

My tank is sited away from the living room window. Can I employ a night photoperiod (10pm - 6am) for my glossos? My Gex light is a 12W (ard 2.4 WPG).

My tank will be non CO2, after flooding the tank can I dose excel for the first few weeks and eventually stop excel? Do I need any other traces when using Amazonia substrate?

    Thank you.

Just to add on, I am using GEX 蛍光ランプ ナチュラルホワイト GL-12NW.

My Genoah 200 (5 gallon) tank is with me close to 3 year already.
Reading the forum and saw some bro mention change light bulb every 4 mths?

Will my current lighting suffice or do I need new replacement light?
    Thank you.

Bro i have tried DSM on HC, using indirect sunlight along the corridor. According to my success, i can tell you that you wont need the photoperiod with your bulb. Unless your tank dont receive natural light at all. I mist 3 times a day, i used a plastic cover, and i kept it open sometimes at night. I was trying to keep the PUB bills down at that time.

Anyway, for all my glosso experiences, i do them submerged. They creep real quickly. I planted mine quite sparingly, about 3strands per clump, deeper in, leaving some exposed leaves will do. And i plant a lot of them as i got bulk purchase direct from the farm, both hands full of glosso, at $10. Many hrs of paitience required. But i do use co2. Eventually they cover the whole tank with 2 to 3 layers of glosso. Very nice.

    Good luck on your DSM!

I do agree with this. Their pretty easy even, especially for High tech tanks with co2

Thanks for all the advice people. The glossos are just over a week old, I do hope they strive well in my tank.
I find it easier to trim and replant the stems when they are emersed, I guess DSM is useful for beginners like me.

Can anyone advice on the excel dosage after flooding my 5 gallon?
As I am going non-CO2, I'm worried about lack of CO2 during transition phase to submerged.
    Thanks!

Just follow the instruction on the packaging. Unlike pressurize CO2, excel will kill your plant if overdose too much.

4 weeks+ since my DSM, and my glossos are always shooting up vertically.
I did some trimming on the 2nd and 3rd week for the new vertical shoots and replanted them; they came up vertical.

The original 'base' glossos are like hydras, trim 1 stem and 2 stems grow out from them.
Basically it's like a mini vegetable farm on my ADA amazonia now haha.

I keep a constant photo-period of 8-9 hours, covering with cling wrap.
Light-wise i can't comment on much because the Gex website has no specs for their bulb. I got a new Gex bulbb for this DSM project though.

Would it work if I just cut the whole vertical stems, and lay them down on the soil instead?
Maybe sifting some gravel on top of them.

As long as they root well. No need to worry. It is normal to have longer and leaves stretching when glosso is grown emerse.

When the glosso spreads more runner they will grow slightly shorter leaves. You can encourage by sniping bits off, not the whole leaf.
