Saw tis small fish at Y618, name on glass is headstander. Seems its a bottom feeder usually swimming vertically with its head down, hence the name. Would like to know if any of u guys know the exact name of tis fish, how big will it grow and wat is its diet, friendliness towards other fish or lack of it. Shop people there say it also eats algae.
    Thanx

Perhaps a brief description of the physical traits of the fish will get you more replies.

There's simply too many fishes with all kinds odd names that fit that description. Some of us don't stay too near to Yishun to go have a look.

However, I suspect that fish you are refering to may be from the headstander family.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

I believe you are referring to Chidolus Punctatus; The Spotted Headstander. Its a characin, from south america, perfers 80deg F, grows up to 4 inches, likes moderately soft and slightly acidic water and likes some green food to eat now and then such as cabbage and lettuce. I haved also heard that is a good algae eater, particulary the dreaded black beard algae.

this one is a juvenile, and yes it DOES eat BBA

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
