Why not rear your shrimp in the cooler box and throw in the ice pack directly. It should be able to maintain the temperature longer than the existing setup since it is just for breeding purpose. Will look much neater than the current mess.

    1) Well the temperature in the cooler box fluctuate more than the tank. It is much more colder too.

    2) No filtration

    3) Cannot see the shrimps

    4) There are the ph and gh to consider, I got special soil in the tank to lower ph and gh

    5) I am not into frozen shrimps, I can get that from the supermarket

I remember an old timer, Timebomb, who immerse his hose in the water instead of the filter that you are doing now. Perhaps, this might be a better option. But his method was to use a freezer. Search for his thread in the killies section.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

Thanks bro, I may be taking the project in that direction when I get the right materials. I cannot use copper tubing and have to source for a heat exchanger that is made of other metal.

Step 2: Getting a heat exchanger from ebay that is of the right size.

Variable: The flow of the filter counts, it cannot be too fast nor too slow. The water need to spend enough time in the cooler box to be chilled. If the water is taking too long a time in the filter in the cooler box then the tank is not getting chilled.

Well the temperature in the cooler box fluctuate more than the tank. It is much more colder too.

Temp in cooler box definitely more stable compare to glass as glass is a much better conductor of heat. Temp depend on how much ice pack added in

    2) No filtration

Can be improvise lah. If not use cansister will do the job also

    3) Cannot see the shrimps

Cooler box for breeding, tank for viewing

    4) There are the ph and gh to consider, I got special soil in the tank to lower ph and gh

Put the soil in the cooler box just like the tank

    5) I am not into frozen shrimps, I can get that from the supermarket

    Think out of the box

Thanks I will think about your suggestion bro.

I am going to set up the same setup for my relative this weekend.
I am glad that I am spreading the idea.

Btw bro, where to buy air conditioner foam?

My shrimps are yamato and sakura hence they are good in a non-chilled tank but I am going to let the sakura reproduce so that I can give to my relatives and friends hence I need better temperature
Hi, I try to ask around for you. I bought mine from air conditioner (electrical shops) in Malaysia... very cheap.

Sorry for the comment Brother, which i think by doing so many messy setup and you only achieve 26.1' C ?
Personally, i used only a Daz fan on a 1.5ft tank and can cooled to 26.5' C !!!
