congrats.
btw how much is the xmas moss? what did u attach them to?
To All that have given their advice to me, my riccia has bubbled, what a fantastic view! Thank you very much!
Got the housing from Nature, 2 x 36 w PL, they bubbled within 1 hour. I went to Petmart, bought a packet of x'mas moss, bubbled also, wow!
Now I have a new problem, the remaining black hair algae that has turned red, what can I do? My otos don't seem to be interested. Can I introduced other algae-eating fish? what can I put in? A new headache!
cheers
congrats.

x'mas @ $5.00 for a compacted packet. Open up at home and the packet fills one basin. Some are very fresh, maybe I was lucky.
I tie them to drift woods.

Thio,
As with the increase of lighting, algae will likely to increase too. You may want to reduce the lighting duration and review you ferterlization regime.
Thanks simon, btw what is a SAE?
Thanks also to sherchoo, what do recommend on the fertilization regime? I add 2 mls of liquid fertiliser 2ce weekly. Looks like I must include a timer for my lights 'coz I switch them b4 I leave for work 7.30 and I don't get back until 9.00pm. By now the hours are very long. Then I cannot turn on to view my tank anymore. Any good recommendations for a timer?

Siamese Algae Eater
thanks. how different is that from oto? do u some pictures to help?
thio, u can look at them in our database area
the redish algae, yamato and malayan shrimps will clear them in a weeks time longest.
Cheers!
Benetay
thio, if you are not familiar with SAE do becareful when buying. There are several other fishes (not so good algae eating ones) that resembles SAE especially when they're small. And DON'T trust the LFS guy either. Best bet is to get help from a knowledgeable forum member.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
hexazona · crumenatum · Galleria Botanica
thanks. I got them from Nature. I supposed the risk of buying the wrong ones are lower.
hi benetay,
do I need a combination of both malayan & yamato to achieve the result? it seems malayan shrimps are cheaper.
thio, malayan aint really good at algar eater.. they like to hide.. yamato on the other hand, r the most hardworking algae eaters (IMO)
Hi
Do note that the real SAE has it black strip all the way to the end of its tail. This are the one that constantly eat algae. As for the look alike, they do also eat but not as hungry[]
timer can be purchased from petmart at $20.. if not, any hardware shop also have it.. might be cheaper though...
