I have a 2nd 14 litre tank which I am planning to set it up with mosses only, with guppies and/or neon tetras.

My 1st 14 litre tank had H.E.L.P Advanced Soil with a mini nana and few fishes, mini crays and shrimps.

I was planning to get the same H.E.L.P advanced soil for this 2nd tank and went to read its characteristic again and was surprised to see the following:

    http://www.jpc-co.jp/help/english/soil/feature.html

    4) ADVANCED SOIL won't let it get mossy. During the manufacturing process, potassium (K) is added to the granules but nitrogen compounds (N) and phosphorus (P) are eliminated. Without such fertilizing constituents mosses are not able to survive, and therefore ADVANCED SOIL will not let mosses happen.
*Keep it away from direct sunlight, however!
Does anyone know any other substrate is good to grow mosses? I am likely to get java moss btw.

    Thank you in advance.
    from 14L to 8L tank.

Mosses do not need any substrate to grow well. They are low maintenance plants. They are more particular to the temperature and quality of the water.

    Happy planting.
