no it does not face downwards, infact its head is always on surface of water. Most of the time it will stay on top like killi or panchax.... Some Pencil stay on top too
Got it, it belong to Copella family but don't know exactly which one..
I think it is not so common in Singapore

kekekee.. i got one from gan.. very nice fish.. seen some a while back, but dunno remember which lfs.. very seldom seen fish in SG

What is interesting abt this fish is the way they reproduce. They spawn OUT of the water on the leaves of overhanging plants. Female will jump and stick their eggs on the back of the overhanging plants, and the male will constantly splash water to keep the eggs wet until they hatch and small fly dropping into the water. That is why they are sometime call Splashing Tetra
