    Hi Guys,

I have a bit of a problem. I'm using a Eheim 2213 and when I was clean it, I found a lot of this brown stuff inside my filter.

I'm not sure if it is algae so I thought you guys can help me. Bad part is I didn't take a photo of it but I have photos of the brown stuff in the pipe.

I have also attached a photo of my nana there seems to be some brown stuff, not sure if it is the same thing.

I hope there is someone or ones who can help me.
    Cheers.

    Yes they are algae.
Bad thing is have to manually clean every now and then. There are pipe cleaners for this task which is not often done.

I've tried a suggestion by a bro before. Use a nertite snail but you gotta find a way to keep them inside.

Glad to know that they are algae.

One more question. Does this algae make the water turn a bit brown?

It seems that a water is a bit brownish when I look from the side. When I started, it wasn't like that. I thought it might have something to do with the wood but I have been using the wood for about 3 months now.
    Cheers.

DW leaking tannis which causes the water to be brown.

Water will become brown naturally if you do not WC regularly and have DW inside the tank.

I think it is algae. And not difficult to get rid. Those in the pipes might be difficult.

I really like the suggestion of putting a snail or two inside the pipes. Keeping them inside (in my setup) can be easily done with a small mesh. I'll certainly do that when I have time to get the snails. Thanks for the great suggestion.

Heres a suggestion, u can try Ocean free "super green away..
it will clump up the algae into big chucks causing it to sink and get trapped by the filer..

When water turns green or brown its usually algae
