No offence, even you get the shrimps, I doubt they can survive the trip back...

Are you sure? I just got back from hong kong and brought some shrimps inside the breathing bag and they all survive. As my understanding, when i use breathing bag shrimps can survive for 1 week. Maybe other expert in here know much more than me.
In proper packaging shouldn't be a problem. Purchase the shrimp on the last day before you fly back.
Breathing bag + Ice Pack (gel type) + Styrofoam box should do the job well.
(bring along some breathing bag just in case...in fact no need breathing bag also ok)
Try to pack 5-8 shrimp per bag. But not over 3L of water and not more then 30 pieces per person.
As for your question of where to get???
I can't provide you.
But I guess it won't be cheap...but you can always google the location of LFS at japan.

Thanks for the reply newlife actualy that's what i did. As for the lfs i will try to search.
a silly question to ask. are we even allowed to purchase live marine species overseas and bringing them back? imagine them undergoing the x-ray scans.
sorry if this is off topic :P
As Newlife mention, as long as it is not over 3L and not over 30pcs it is allowed (non Cites fish)
So, did you have any luck in finding shrimp in Tokyo? If you want I can send them. I've already sent fish to Singapore X alvarezi, X cortezi, P salvatori so I know how to do it properly.
Fish....Not just yui shen

Hi Edinjapan
I visited lowkeys international in tokyo while i was there.
I would have thought you'd go to Munechika Fish Farm out in Chiba. They're the people who created the Mosura and Hi-no-Maru shrimp lines.
