    Hi...

jus wan to ask tat if i use more than 1 fan for a 2ft tank...
will the temp drop lower than jus using 1 fan?
if i does drop...how low can it go?

i dun mind topping up the water every now and then as long as the tank can be at a very low temp...

I think there's a limit to how much heat can water lose through only surface evaporation... maybe one fan cool the water one fan cool the lights?

Ya. Just a suggestion. I do cooling for PC, 1 to bring cool air into the case, 2 to bring cool air to the cpu and graphics card and 2 to draw the hot air out from behind.

1 fan about 27C. Some people manage to bring the temp down to 25/26C with more than 1 fan.
Lower temp=more evaporation=more frequent top up

keeping moss and shrimps in the 2ft tank...
i dun mind topping up the water every now and then as long as the tank can be at a very low temp...
For moss and shrimp, 27C is good enough.

    I know this secret too...

    Almost forgot to add:
    Tank = 3ft
    Temp without fans 29-31C
    Temp with 2 fans 26-27C

I run the OceanFree two fan AC unit on my 2 ft tank (72W), placing the fan parrallel to the water surface (3-4 cm above) and the temperature's around 26-27C. Mosses are fine.

I have a few 350W Power Supplies lying around, are those overkill?? I mean I'm not powering a Pentium 4 but DC fans, so would using 350W = more power usage? higher bills?

multiply your fan voltage with your fan current, including your power supply fan as well. Thats the wattage you are using.

nope. 350w is the max output of power supply. consumption depends on the load (fans).

Why bother with the bulky PSU ? Just get a AC/DC 12V transformer from hardwre shop. <$16.

Because I have some PSUs at home, so can save the extra money. Now can't find the other PSUs and the only one is dead... lol!

Going to get an adapter maybe.

I chose not to use an adaptor so that I can have the option of adding more fans and/or to power other stuff without worrying about the adaptor burning out. There are tons of pc accessories that can be adapted for use with our tanks.

Aeon, I believe yours is an ATX psu that requires shorting for it to power up. Older AT psu comes with a ready switch. Do a search on "power atx psu without motherboard" and you should see many DIY pc mod articles on that topic.
