Chris,
Someone gave it to me some time back... The pic was taken when I was transferring them to a bigger container...
Cheers!
Didnt see any recent posting of plants... so posting some...
Ceratophyllum sp (Peru)
WOW! Looks very delicate. Must be a quite a challange to keep this species.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
I had problems initially.. but its a weed now...
seems to me new plant species in the trade aren't very often in coming...
It's not that... just that there's no reason to show the warez here since nobody has anything interesting for an exchange... and I would not let it out in the market so easily...
that's what i mean, nothing new comes in commercially, so the only way anything new comes in is by import by hobbyist in small batches. if the problem of "nothing new to exchange", its bound to persist forever, since its just a matter of money and contacting the various german and taiwan aquatic plant farms.
thus you may be better served by forming a "plant collection fund", since from my point of view, I see it as a funding issue than an availability issue.
btw: would you have any statistics on eg: "how many new species of cryptocorne are discovered annually?" I certainly hope its not the case that we have found all there is to be found, thus no new aquatic plants.
Chris, you probably know the answer why there are no new plants available commercially here...
There is really not enuff demand here to generate the supply/ interest for any lfs to bring anything in... not sustainable in the long run. There is only demand if the price is almost free...or close to that. I dont think many would be willing to purchase a stalk of the crypt cordata "pink vein" for US$100? Most people would think it's crazy to buy a stalk of vegetable for that price... So I dont think its a lack of a plant collection fund but rather a lack of real plant enthuasiam which has few have.
No statistics on any new crypts found... most of the people in trade here dont really have the time or care if the crypts they last pulled off from the streams contain any new sps.
well, in my opinion, its more a case of no money rather than no interest (after cost benefit analysis is applied).
besides crypts, "are there new plants for the aquarium trade discovered yearly?"
I mean the last big thing was downoi right.. heh.
