I think I saw about 11 red vampire crabs at Sea View today.
You might want to call them before going down, in case I am seeing the wrong things because I am not familiar with crabs.

Many thanks for the info. Just to check, is Seaview still off Jalan Kayu?
Thanks. Was afraid it might have moved.
I believe that the crabs at Seaview are not vampires. Do check with the shop staffs before buying or download a pic and do a positive picture ID before committing.

Thanks.
I called and the girl who answered was rather iffy about identification. I suspect you are probably right. Might pop in sometime this week if I find some time just for a look-see.
Would you know if Hong Yang has any?
If I'm not wrong, C328 usually has stock for them
Fishes calm my mind
Cylence87, yes. I bought some from C328 a couple times. But the last time I was there (a couple of weeks back), I couldn't find any. Don't know if they have new stock. Might pop in. Not as far as Jalan Kayu or Qian Hu.
Just got 2 from Yishun (Y61!

I went down yesterday and bought two. Only one female which I bought.
It seems the white/cream backs are known as bicolor (American spelling) vampire crab or geosesarma bicolor. The specific name vampire crab refers to the orange back ones. Or at least that's what you would get if you google the terms. All of them have purple claws. Which is why I specify the colour of the back rather than the name or sub-name.
Like you, I had thought the white/cream backs were vampire crabs. I guess they were the ones that were first available here and elsewhere and the term stuck before the experts got down to differentiating the various ones. It seems there are yellow eyes, etc.
I like the orange ones because they are brighter and can be seen more easily. But beggars can't be choosers, or boh pian. Would still be interested if anybody else spots them and send out an alert. Mine don't live very long. Sigh!
vampire crabs are very small, like the size of a 50cents coin (old one), is it?
if it is, I saw quite a number of it, in various colours also, there's red, orange, blue, valentine (and one more colour I think), at Tropical Fish International Pte Ltd, Loyang Agro Park Plot 32 No 1 Pasir Ris Coast Industrial Park 1 Tel: 65840877.
don't thank me for the details of the LFS location, credit goes to xXXXx13:

Bought my crabs already. But always interested in seeing more. But so many colours? Might not be vampires.
okay, I am very interested to find out more about vampire crabs, or more importantly to verify if it's vampire crabs that I have came across.
So I went back today to take pictures of it and here you goes.
I hope you will say, "yes, it's vampire crabs!"
of course it's a "no" to the last 2 pics,
They named the 2nd last pic as Rainbow crab, it's about 10x bigger than those vampire crabs (if it really is). Sorry that I didnt get a good angle shot of it despite having shooted "say Cheeze".
and the last pic caught my sight, some strange looking frog. so I took a pic to see if anyone know what species is this.
