    Re: water plant

Hi! Can, I think. They provide oxygen during the day and act as hideout for fish. Makes fish feel secure. However, water change (siphoning of waste at the bottom) should still be carried out regularly. What kind of plants do you have in mind, or already have? Is there enough light since plants need light to grow. If there's no given light, The plants may die and add on the the buildup of ammonia in the water and make the water poisonous..
Fancy Guppies: Many cute ones. Live Fish Fry Cultures: Microworms, Grindal worms & Vinegar eels.

Not too sure what you mean by neutralising.
To put it in a very simple manner; when fish pooped it sinks then over time gets broken down to form usable by plants. Then plant will uptake them as nutrients.
It's simple...but no one said it will be easy
