    Hey guys,

I have a small Gex Glassterior 450 in my office and was hoping to get some suggestions on livestock. The tank has black oyama background and some fine river sand on the bottom. Simple scape using small pieces of DW and some java ferns. Also in there is a small Boyu internal filter with a rainbar (which unfortunately provides a little too much current than I'd like).

    Fauna:
    - 10 x Neon Tetra
    - 2 x Otocinclus

I was hoping for suggestions on possibly 3 or so small fish which will occupy the top level of the tank and hopefully likes abit of current (since the rainbar is pointing up and out, around 45 deg).

    Thoughts?
Setup: ADA Cube Garden 45-P, Starlitz Clear 45, Eheim Aquacompact 40
Layout/Hardscape: ADA Amazonia Powder Soil, Borneowild Rutsuuddo Wood (SS Root Type)
Fauna: Apisto Trifasciata, Sundadanio Axelrodi (Blue), Yamato Shrimp

Wohooo!! Finally my favourite topic! Haha.

Danio Margaritatus! (Celestial Pearl Danio) or Galaxy Rasbora as its formerly known.
They are small, pretty, cute and dance the tango now and then. A non aggressive fish.
    Swims bottom to mid.

    Harlequin Rasbora
Pretty little thing. But should be kept in minimum 6 and more.
    Swims mid

But then you are looking for those that swims near surface. Hmm...no idea mate. Maybe upside down catfish? Seen them stay near surface. I have no idea about this species though. Platy, guppy and molly swims all over the place.

    Re: Suggestions on Livestock..

Thanks for the reply.. But, I really only want some small fish that swims on the top level exclusively. No point having them encroach on the tetra's territory (low - mid).

I have been reading up and some popular ones are:
    - Marbled Hatchetfish (Max 4cm, likes current, jumper)
    - Lambchop Rasboras (Max 4cm, dislikes current)

I'm leaning towards the marbled hatchetfish now due to the current from my internal filter (Can't find a weaker filter and don't want to employ air driven filters due to the bubbles). However, I'm abit hesitant because I'm not sure they will "blend in" to the scape. Gex tanks come with a glass cover (although it doesn't cover fully, but, I can probably mesh up the rest) and I'm not too worried about them jumping. Ohh, I also don't know where to buy them. Anyone seen them on sale lately?

The lambchop rasboras are nice and the red colouration should blend in nicely and complements the neon tetra's red. However, as usual, the current is a huge factor for me. Anyone knows of a reaaaaaalllllyyyy weak filter? I want current to circulate the water and prevent dead spots.. But, I want it to be a slow current suitable for the fauna. As such, the usual "point the rainbar to the glass wall" would be out since the other end of the tank would be dead water.

Hi GEX 450 Glassteriors can be found at C328. You might want to consider keeping killifishes like Clown Killifish for example as they tend to stay at the surface most of the time I wish you success for your office aquarium!
    Cheers!

Yes, I already have the Gex Glassterior 450. It's already sitting in my office now.

Clown Killies are an interesting suggestion. I have not had the luxury of seeing any on sale thus far. Care to point me to the correct LFS/breeder? Also, I wonder if they do well in tanks with some current..

    Some other possibilities:
    - Some of the Pseudomogil species (since they enjoy some current and stay small.. not sure where to find them nowadays)
    - Danios (don't really like them.. kept a few before and they bossed the tetras around alot)
    - White Cloud Mountain Minnows (not a big fan either.. have kept the "gold" version before)
