Was never interested in Betta before. But lately appear to have a weakness for some beautiful bettas. Thinking of introducing them into my planted tank together with the various tetras. Will they make a good tankmate?. Another of my concern is will they make a feast of the plants?.

Bettas don't eat plants. Things to note. Slow swimmers. Make sure they get fed. Keep slow water flow. No nippy tank mates.
I have a $1 betta in my 1ft cube with kuhli loach and rasbora, he's quite bossy and have chased a couple of rasbora out of the tank. I believe he'll have a go at shrimps too.

Agreeing with bryan. If they have long flowing fins then they're prone to getting bullied. Otherwise they would be fine. Oh and no mirrors around them, as they get stressed when they see their own reflections LOL.
