Caterpillar-like creature found in the water of my girlfriend's tank

Hi fellow friends

Can anyone help me identify this creepy crawler from my girlfriend's freshwater tank found today? It looks like a caterpillar but it feeds on her frogbits and was found underwater... eww...

It IS a caterpillar. There are some moth species in which the caterpillars feed on aquatic plants, and so are able to live underwater.
