    Hi everyone,

Would anyone kind enough to help identify a type of plant that exist in my aquarium but I do not remember purchasing it from anyone or LFS.
Seems to me like algae, but I am not sure.
when I try to pull it, it seems to attached to my plants, that's one of the reason why I suspect this could be algae.
    Please see attached picture.

    Please help to Identify Plant

    Looks like hair algae.
But I think I saw pods which can mean liverwort family, anyway it really looks like a mass of it grown around some plants.

Never consider taking the bunch out and plant something else?

Do you have excel? If you have try some spot treatment, if the reaction is there (as in your shrimps if any, go eat it) then confirm hair algae.

Oh yes i have the same weed in my tank too! curly green strings with pods. They tend to grow on my flamemoss and windelov fern. It took me a long time to realise they are weeds, I had at first thought they are part of my flamemoss.

    What are they?

    Hi Ranchu,

I don't think its nitella flexilis as mine has pods and it feels rough when touched.
Anyway, I have since removed it from my tank, hope it wont grow back again.
By the way, nice blog you have.
