    Re: Discus and Arowana???

    Bad idea. Hello???

Arowanas will eat anything that can fit in their mouths. Why even bother? Do read some of the old threads on planted arowana tanks for tips.

See my post (last one on the first page) in this thread http://www.aquaticquotient.com/phpbb...ic.php?t=16061

Rosha has altums and tetras in his arowana planted tank. But then, if you look at his tank pictures, his altums are always crowded at one of the tank while the arowana has full reign over the tank. Maybe you can write him for more info (ask him to reply here, better. ).

Sam Pet's show room in Joo Chiat had cardinals in the arowana planted tank there. I asked if they get eaten, the reply was along the lines of "slowly the numbers drop."

You have to consider feeding as well...
    - Arowanas are fast feeders (snap, snap snap), discus are much slower (nibble, nibble, nibble). My aro moves faster for its food, if any other fishes trys to eat it.
    - Small fishes feeding in open water make good targets, especially if they get distracted by the food. (I don't feed mine, they live off the food scrapes, algae and whatever micro-organisms they can find.)

Someone I was chatting with said, "(I) think the discus will get freaked to death". :P Discus are quite shy, he thinks the more aggressive arowana will stress them out.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

On the other hand... lots of ppl keep "too big to be eaten" fish like Siamese tigers, Fei feng, monos, plecos, freshwater rays, etc with their arowanas in bare tanks.
