Advice needed: Canister Filter with extended inlet/outlet

I want to get a canister filter for my 28L (2*14L) of tank, which is actually 2 14L tanks joined by water bridge. This is to replace the sponge filters.
    Full tank view as below:

I am interested in Eheim products and in particular the Classis series.
The smallest model is the 150 model, which is meant for a 50L tank. Would it be an overkill for my case?

It is not a cheap equipment, so I would like to seek opinion/suggestion on my proposed setup below, before commiting to it.

For my case, let's assume I want to fix
the outlet on the left side of the Left Tank and
the inlet to be on the right side of the Right tank.

Looks like I need to buy some pipes/connectors to extend the inlet/outlet to the position I want.
The following pictures were taken from the online manual.

Am I right that #3 is the outlet, #4 is the inlet?

I will join the pipe/connector from #3 to my Left Tank so that it looks like this:

#4, like the example below, but it will be extended to the right side of my Right Tank.

    Will this work?

Or should I be considering other Eheim products or other Brand of Caniter Filter? I just want an external filter with extendable inlet/outlet option.

    Thank you in advance.
    from 14L to 8L tank.

I've never known of anyone doing this before but I would want you to try. The only problem I might forsee is the flow of the water from one tank to another. You might want to get some extra of those water bridge pipe just in case the water flowing from 1 tank to the next couldn't keep up with 1 of the water bridge by using the canister filter. You could experiment with larger diameter pipe of the water bridge too if having many water bridge is an eyesore.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks bro. Initially I wanted to get the larger diamter pipe, which is 40mm. but the connector is not transparent (and costly too) so I didn't go for it. I might be adding another water bridge, same size as the current one.

I am very eager to start, almost bought it yesterday but this Eheim Classis 150 is really not cheap, somehow my wallet refused to come out from the pocket.

Do you know by any chance, if the outlet comes with a valve that we can control the flow?

The manual really makes me scratch my head non-stop.

Just found some information on eheim classic, putting it here in case I "lose the bookmark" later.

some convincing words to use control valve on the outlet:
