The 1st pic was taken on 14 Dec 2003.
The 2nd pic taken in Mid Jan 2004
The 3rd and 4th pic were taken in Mid Feb 2004
Thereafter the pics were taken last nite.

End Feb, planted 1 Echindorus red rubin behind the Ozelot. Suddenly ozelot boom (compare pic 3 to those taken in March) and now covering the red rubin totally. Hopefully the red rubin will outgrow the height of the Ozelot.

Now waiting for the Balansae to grow in the centre and Stricta to cover the left corner as well as Spatterdock behind the left drift wood. Will probably be rescaping the forefront with hairgrass this weekend.

Hey, very nice! Especially the mosses on the driftwoods.
Why not also staple mosses on your styrofoam backdrop?

thanks... would love to create a moss wall like you have for your tanks. does it mean that i staple a few areas of the backdrop only? will the moss grow and cover the backdrop or will it just cover the areas which is stapled on? i have difficulty reaching to the back bottom areas of the tank esp in the centre area due to its size and depth.

Just staple on those portions that are visible. And preferably not to use Java Moss as they grow faster and long.

thanks for advise. ideally it would be x-mas moss, but my water temp fluctuates from 26.5 - 28 deg C depending time of the day. using only 1 fan to cool the tank. so not sure if the x-mas moss will do well under such condition.

what about erect moss? can it do well in such water condition?

I suggest you use 2 fans. Always good results.

Nice tank! I see that within a short span of 1 mth, your red tiger lotus has overtaken the neighbouring anubias in height. Mine hasn't grown any taller and it's been w me for 2 mths plus. What's your wattage like? I undestand one can stimulate upward growth w dimming of light over several days. Did you do anyhting like that?? My other problem was w premature leaf rot and I'm still clueless as to the cause.

    Mike, one word... fertilisers. :P

They like rich substrates. Go stick a root monster or other root fertiliser next to it.

As for height, once it gets going and the leaves start shading each other, subsequent leaves will be taller.

I did stick in several in the substrate including 2 where the tiger lotus is. They're still in there although I'd retrived 1 from elsewhere w terribly messy aftermath.

Thanks for your comment. Those lotus are just the normal red ones, it's not a tiger lotus. As Vinz stated, I added 1 root monster by the side of the lotus and it started blooming thereafter.

I have a tiger lotus as well. It is starting to grow recently. I did not add any root monster for this one though.

5ft Tank Update and New 2ft Tank

new pics of my 5ft tank and my 2ft tank.

    http://www.msnusers.com/LeroysAquati...ox.msnw?Page=2

5ft tank is doing well after getting PeterGwee's advice on adding NO3 and PO4. Think the PO4 did wonders to the growth of my plants.

2ft tank was originally meant to be filled with stem plants. But due to insufficient lighting, stem plants didn't do well after 1 month. So switch to current concept last Sunday. Have a bunch of rotala indica at the back waiting to fill background as well as nutrient absorption.

    Regards,
    Leroy
