Is Rainbow fish popular in SG?

Hello folks,

i recently taken some interest in Rainbow fishes from Papua new guinea and Australia.
some of them have very nice colors and in my opinion 2nd only to Malawi cichlids.

Is Rainbow fish popular in SG? anyone keeping them?
i suppose they will look great in a 4ft planted tank

below are the ones i am looking at.
Glossolepis incisus
Melanotaenia boesemani
Melanotaenia lacustris
Melanotaenia splendida
Melanotaenia parkinsoni

yes Madagascar Rainbowfish is one type.
you keep in a planted tank?

Yup 2ft planted tank wif pencil fishes & densonii & a trio of red ruby cichlids. Heavy bio-load

It's very hard but try to keep to 1-2 species. Too many types and you have a messy tank unless you like a riot of colors. Rainbows show their colors best in a brightly lit planted tank. Glossolepis incisus will look very dark if the tank is dim.
