    Hi everyone,

    Yesterday i just change my OHF to a external cannister.

    But this morning, a few fishes are dead.

    May I know the reasons ???

    The filter media is new. There are no established biological bacteria. Ammonia build up. fish die of poison.

    you can certainly try adding those products which contain nitrifying bacteria etc.... to get your new filter kickstarted biologically. But in the meantime, you should change your water more regularly until the new filter's microflora develops sufficiently to tackle the ammonia and nitrites.

    Put in Activated Carbon to abosrb the ammonia for the 1st 1-2 weeks then slowly gradually replace with more biomedia until all AC is replaced.
